This report covers the results of a test program whose objective was to establish the feasibility of measuring basic telephone circuit quality, on a non-interfering basis, while the circuits were actively employed. The measuring equipment employed utilized spread spectrum and correlation techniques for inserting and extracting a test signal from a phone line while normal data signals were present. The test program demonstrated in a measure the feasibility of the basic spread spectrum concept for determining line quality on a non-interfering basis. Author
