Initial copolymerization studies of the thermal cycloaddition reaction of CF2CFCH2CH2SiCH322O with CF2CFCF2CFClCF2CFCF2 resulted in the formation of mixtures of low molecular weight products. In another approach, work was started on the inclusion of novel fluoroolefinic monomers in a vinylidene fluoridehexafluoropropylene emulsion polymerization system. The monomer synthesis portion of the program was accelerated, and there is now in hand or in process, adequate supplies of the above disiloxane and heptadiene for a sustained polymerization study. In addition, syntheses of additional monomers 3, 3, 4, 4-tetrafluorohexadiene-1, 5 2, 2, 3, -tritrifluoromethyl perfluorooxetane 2, 2, 3, 4-tetra trifluoromethyl perfluorooxetane and bis2-2, 3, 3-trifluorocyclo-1-butenyl ethyl dimethyl siloxane were completed or are in advanced stages of progress.
