Three systems for cooling a model nose cone in steady state heat transfer were evaluated. These were liquid nitrogen, liquid Freon 22, and boiling water. As a result of the design study, the boiling water system was found to be the most economical, efficient, and stable system to use. It was predicted that this system would assure a constant inner wall temperature. Tests conducted on a heated model using boiling water as the coolant are presented. These tests substantiate the predictions made and serve also to demonstrate the effectiveness and simplicity of such a system. Author
