The purpose of this paper is to present a general view of On-the-Job Training as it is conducted in the Air Force today to show some of its strengths and its weaknesses and to present some recommendations for strengthening the weaker links. The primary recommendation of reorganizing the training responsibility is a large adjustment relative to the other recommendations. However, a structural reorganization of units would not be necessary. The training units of the Air Training Command would be tenant units at the various command levels. They would report directly to Air Training Command and not be integrated into the command line of the using organization. It is hoped that the mentioned weaknesses and recommendations for improvement will stimulate investigation in these areas. In turn, these investigations will lead to further studies and further improvements in the area of on-the-job training. Author
