Improved spinning speeds up to 900 ftmin were reached. A larger diameter .040 inch spinneret, discounting presumably some of the melt fracture limitations experienced with the smaller diameter spinnerets, permitted higher thermal jacket temperatures to be used and as a result the higher spinning speeds. The evaluation of the low thermal hazard extrusion head remains incomplete and the desired increase in I. V. was not obtained. Author
