Abstract:

This document presents a method for computing the position of a satellite in a low-inclination, low-eccentricity orbit around an oblate earth using a set of orbital elements developed by S. Herrick. Previous investigations using these orbital elements have not included the perturbations caused by the oblateness of the earth. The entire procedure has been programmed for a digital computer, and the results checked with other methods which make use of different orbital parameters.
