Abstract:

The purpose of the paper was to design an automatic flight control system capable of simulating zero-, Moon-, or Mars-gravity environments 0.005g in the zero-g, KC-135. The problem analysis consists of a mathematical investigation of the simulation of gravity environments with maneuvering aircraft. The system is designed by the use of root locus techniques and analog computer simulation. The analog simulation is used to evaluate the system and the system succeeds in simulating the desired gravity environments within the required tolerances for periods greater than 12 seconds per maneuver.
