Abstract:

Measurements of conductivity were made in a plasma composed of argon seeded with potassium vapor. The gas temperature was 2000K the pressure, one atmosphere the potassium concentration was between 0.22 and 0.80 mole per cent and the current density was between 1 and 80 ampsq cm. Conductivity values were calculated from a two-temperature model in which the energy dependence of the cross sections and radiation losses from the plasma are taken into account. The theoretical and experimental values are in excellent agreement. Author
