The report is an evaluation of the present computer configuration that processes the pre-flight, real-time and postflight data of the Pacific Missile Range. The evaluation assesses the present capability as to its adequacy at the time the Air Force assumes full responsibility for the Western Test Range. It is determined that the present system is not sufficient to handle the needs of the range for the time period 1965-1969. The proposed system will cover the workload imposed by validated requirements for the time period. The proposed system will not be sufficient to handle the workload if proposed additional requirements are validated during the time period. The recommended actions are to discontinue the installation of the Navy contracted ANUSQ20B computer systems to up-grade the present IBM 7090 installation to an IBM 7094 plus four data channels and appropriate peripheral equipment to reanalyze the AFWTR computer needs in late FY-65 or early FY-66 to determine if any new requirements are imposed.
