The purpose of the investigation was to clear up the matter of the existence of solid solutions in the quasi-binary system InP--GaP and the determination of the period of the identity of the crystalline lattice. The synthesis of the compounds InP and GaP and their solid solutions was accomplished by the method of saturation with phosphorus from the vapor phase fusions of indium and gallium of given compositions. The alloys obtained were subjected to metallographic and radiographic analyses and their microhardness was measured. The results yielded convincing evidence of the fact that, at least in the area of high temperatures, there exists a continuous series of solid solutions of InP and GaP with which the constant of the lattice changes practically additively with the concentration of GaP.
