This report describes an investigation into the application of dynamic programming to antenna array theory. The investigation relied heavily on the use of high-speed computers to design both linear and planar arrays. These arrays were composed of unequally spaced isotropic elements where the element positions were chosen to minimize the peak sidelobes of the far field pattern. An evaluation of these patterns is performed in establishing guidelines for antennas which operate with element reductions of 80 to 95 percent. Author
