Abstract:
Electronically excited nitric oxide produced by irradiation with the 2665 and 2155 A lines of a cadmium arc induces the decomposition of ethylene to acetylene and hydrogen, apparently by a molecular mechanism. The acetylene, which also absorbs the radiation, photolytically reacts with the nitric oxide to give a solid deposit. Author
