Abstract:
NAFEC flight tests and evaluation demonstrated the feasibility of using the Honeywell radar altimeter as a component of the FAA landing system. The flight tests have shown no fundamental difficulty exists in the system concept and that the altimeters perform well their primary function of providing accurate altitude information to the landing system from altitudes of 100 feet down to zero. The flight tests also demonstrated that mutual interference effects do not degrade the performance of pulse radar altimeters in a dual installation. Author
