Abstract:

This report presents a discussion of the results obtained from the hydroburst testing of E.A.F.B. case SN1. Case SN1 burst at a pressure of 1076 psig, corresponding to a Prt burst stress of 375,000 psi. A total of five, 6-inch diameter subscale burst tests using test bottles representing the same heats of material in the full scale cases are also discussed. The Prt test results on these bottles ranged from 346,000 psi to 375,000 psi, complimenting the highly successful full scale burst. A metallurgical analysis of the tested case and bottles was conducted and is presented to establish the mode of fracture origination and progression. Author
