Abstract:
This report describes the performance of the binary delay-lock tracking discriminator as evaluated from laboratory-simulated environments. A binary delaylock discriminator was constructed and performance was observed when operated in noise, with doppler-shifted return signals, and with a multipath channel. Experimental verification of much of the earlier theoretical work was accomplished and, in some cases, performance in excess of that previously predicted was observed. From the results presented here, conclusions as to the suitability and advantage of using the delay-lock tracking technique can be formulated as well as obtaining further insight into the physical mechanism with which it operates.
