Abstract:
The prime purpose of this study was to develop a system of classification for inertial navigation sensors that will aid in the prediction of performance. During this quarter a generic model for this class of instruments was defined and a set of differentiating principles chosen for the classification. These are the equation of motion measurement and constraint technique and material of construction. A method of classification based upon these differentia is described. The classification by means of the equation of motion is developed in detail. In addition the results of a study of an electron beam accelerometer and a survey of dielectric theory are reported. It is contemplated that these results will be used in developing the lower orders of the classification system. Author
