Abstract:
Pressure-time recordings were made of the bubble pulses from 1-lb charges of RDXTNTAl mixtures. The percentage of aluminum was varied from 0 to 45, with HBX-1 and HBX-3 compositions included. It was found that as aluminum content increases, the bubble pulse peak pressure and energy decrease, the positive duration increases, and the positive impulse remains relatively constant. Total bubble energy, as represented by the cube of the first bubble period constant, increases with increasing aluminum.
