Abstract:

This system of electrophotography uses the following three basic elements 1 an electrophotographic plate having a photoconductive surface layer which can be electrically charged, and upon which an electric image can be formed by exposure of the plate to a light image 2 a means to develop or transform the electric image into a powder image by subjecting the plate to an electrically charged powder dispersed in air and 3 a means for transferring and fixing this powder image onto a surface suitable for handling and use. This summary contains 1 a statement of the basic steps in the process of electrophotography developed during this project 2 an evaluation of the process in terms of the specific objectives established before the work was started and 3 the potentialities of the process.
