Initial effort is directed toward uncovering the underlying processes involved in deposit formation in empty wing tanks of supersonic aircraft. A field survey of airframe manufacturers and a background literature survey has been completed. A Phase Study Unit was constructed to help understand the important question of the influence of phase vapor versus condensed on the deposit formation process. Initial results from this unit have indicated that the deposit formation process.
