Abstract:

Heat-transfer, pressure, and static force tests were conducted at Mach 4 through 10 to obtain performance and design data on the SNAP-27 fuel cell. The tests were conducted using a full-scale model at free-stream unit Reynolds numbers between 0.6 x 10 to the 6th power and 5.0 x 10 to the 6th power per foot at angles of attack from -90 to 235 deg. Based upon early test results, the basic configuration was modified, successfully making the vehicle statically stable only at zero angle of attack at Mach 8. This was the only Mach number at which the modified configurations were tested.
