The modified production RLT Rolling liquid transporters M6 furnished for test is not suitable for arctic winter use. The modifications applied to the production RLT and listed in appendix VII, reference lc did not adversely affect operations under arctic winter conditions. These modifications were applied specifically to correct those deficiencies and shortcomings reported in the first temperature zone Type I confirmatory test of the RLT and therefore, the effect the modifications has on eliminating previous arctic service test deficiencies and shortcomings were incidental. The deficiencies and shortcomings reported during the arctic service test of the RLT were not completely corrected. A 52 percent recurrence rate was encountered during the confirmatory test. The product improvement elastomer fuel cells functioned suitably during 2,335 miles of arctic winter testing. The elastomer fuel cell exhibited improved performance over the Type II fuel cell and as individual items are suitable for arctic winter use. The expander tube brake system functioned satisfactorily during 1,792 miles of arctic winter testing.
