Abstract:

The eutectics in the Pt-C and Ir-C phase diagrams were studied in this investigation. Both systems are of a simple eutectic type with very limited solid solubility of carbon. The eutectic point of the Pt-C systems exists at 16.8 or -1.0 at. 1.23 or -0.09 wt. C and 1705 or -13 C, and that of the Ir-C system at 29.0 or -1.0 at. 2.49 or -1.0 at. 2.49 or -0.12 wt. C and 2150 or -22 C. Author
