Abstract:

In order to determine the amount of basic military knowledge possessed by various categories of enlisted men on active Army duty in 1954, the Basic Military Proficiency Test was administered to 6067 soldiers. The scores were analyzed in terms of a variety of military career background factors. The results provide the Army with quantitative estimates of the level of basic military knowledge possessed by active duty soldiers of varying amounts and type of military experience. Author
