Abstract:

The Mk 344 Bomb Fuze utilizes or - 195VDC and or -300VDC for its impact delays but must be independent of the input voltage for its arming times. The best means immediately apparent for providing this independence is to regulate the input voltage. An investigation was conducted to determine the optimum regulated voltage and 180VDC was selected. This report presents some alternative approaches given consideration. The report proceeds with a circuit discussion of the selected regulator. A theoretical analysis follows. Conclusions are drawn based on the actual behavior of some developmental models and the correlation of experimental data with theoretical predictions. Integration of the developmental models into actual Mk 344 fuzes produced good timing results over the temperature range of -40 F to 130 F.
