Abstract:
Part I of this report evaluates a computer solution for the centrifugal stresses in rotors of arbitrary cross section. Part II is an evaluation of the United States Naval Postgraduate School. This facility was found capable of measuring strains with excellent accuracy. Part III presents a new and original analytical solution for the stresses in any conical rotor of constant thickness. The theoretically predicted stresses are found to be in close agreement with the measured values for the particular rotor tested.
