Abstract:

It has been found that halocarbon and hydrocarbon molecules can catalytically enhance ionization levels in atomic N-O afterglows. It is shown that this phenomenon can be attributed to an increase in the concentration of excited N2 andor NO molecules. It is possible that similar enhancement phenomena can increase the ionization level of re-entry wakes. Author
