Abstract:

The ultimate objective of this research is to identify the chemical and physical processes responsible for unstable combustion during the burning of solid propellants in rocket motors. The principal specific goal is the understanding of erosive-velocity-coupled instabilities, primarily through the study of inite-amplitude axial instability. A second specific goal is to provide comprehensive data for use by rocket design engineers in choosing propellants and associated grain configurations for particular applications.
