Abstract:

The low cavitation threshold pressure of He2 and its peculiar temperature dependence is analyzed on the basis of two-fluid hydrodynamic equations. The mechanism of rectified internal convection for an oscillating bubble is suggested as a possible explanation for the observed phenomena. Based on this idea, simple theoretical model is constructed to calculate the threshold pressure. The theoretical values agree fairly well with the experimental data, and they exhibit similar temperature dependence. Author
