Abstract:
The insulation resistance measurements indicate that no flux can be left on printed wiring boards after soldering without affecting in some measure the insulation resistance of the board. Some of the fluxes are of such nature that a mild wash will remove the residue to such an extent that any effect on the insulation resistance is so small as to be negligible. An arbitrary standard of no individual reading of less than 10,000 megohms and an average of not less than 100,000 megohms when measured according to this test has been chosen. Use of a dye added to the flux to determine the presence or absence of flux residue was found impractical.
