Abstract:
A study of the ratio of the glass temperature to the melting point of 138 polymers is described. Contrary to some other workers observations on smaller numbers of polymers, the ratio is found to vary widely between 0.5 and 0.8 and 20 of polymers have ratios outside this range. There is no basis for distinguishing between symmetrical and unsymmetrical polymers or between their crystalline forms. It is suggested that this result is not wholly unexpected. Author
