Abstract:
Developments in three-dimensional photoelasticity and moire techniques permit an easier and more precise determination of stresses, strains and displacements in models of thick-wall cylinders of very complicated shape. The geometry analyzed as illustration is a short cylinder with a star-shaped perforation and dome-shaped ends. The description of the methods used and of the results obtained when pressure is applied to the vessel, are presented. A previously used two-dimensional simulation is substantiated. Author
