Abstract:
A reliable oscillator has been designed, built, and tested. This oscillator continues to maintain nearly constant frequency and output level in spite of internal defects. The defects which may be tolerated are the following an open circuit in any element a short circuit across any element a short circuit from any node to ground except at the output terminals or a variation of any one tuning inductor or capacitor. The operation depends on redundancy. Three identical oscillators are lightly coupled together in order to lock phase. A logic circuit continuously compares the output signals of the three oscillators. The intermediate-sized signal is chosen by the logic current and is applied to the output terminals. Author
