In order to develop titanium alloys with higher ductilities and 0.1 yield strengths in the range of 190,000 to 240,000 psi and usable ductility in the range from 240,000 to 260,000 psi, a total of 53 eight-pound ingots were investigated. An additional 3 eight-lb. iodide Ti base ingots are being prepared. Four alloys which showed promising properties in the 190,000-240,000 psi range as 8-lb. ingots were remelted as 80-lb. ingots for further evaluation as bar, plate and sheet material. Tensile tests at room temperature and -40 F impact tests were completed on the bar stock and the plate for the four ingots, and welding tests were conducted on the sheet material. Elevated and low temperature tests on the bar stock were completed and the data are included. The compositions of four additional alloys to be evaluated as 80-lb. ingots were selected and preparation of the ingots was begun. Author
