Abstract:

The development of the Long Life Closed Loop MHD Research and Development Unit has progressed systematically. A total of four experimental tests have been made with all components in operation. The last test, during which the loop was operated for a period of three hours and nineteen minutes, provided sufficient data for a comprehensive performance evaluation of the facility. Performance data from the last three tests are presented and in addition a comparison is made with the theory. The problems uncovered during the test program are discussed and possible solutions are presented. Author
