Abstract:
A reproducible process for the manufacture of complex leading edge segments was established. The material was a zirconium diboride-molybdenum disilicide solid solution referred to as Boride Z. The process selected for study was cold pressing with subsequent sintering at 2225 to 2245 C for 7 to 10 hours. Specimens for material property testing were supplied to Bell Aerosystems Company. Several simple structural elements and leading edge segments were also supplied for test. Author
