Abstract:
Experiments indicate that a volume effect as well as a surface effect may be produced by Cs on S-20 photocathodes. Evidence for existance of a multi-alkali cathode of Cs-Rb-Sb is presented. Two phases of K3Bi have been found. Incomplete adsorption of constituents does not appear to limit cathode formation by molecular beams. Activation of S-20 Photocathodes by use of Cs ion sources has been attempted. A multi-alkali effect has been observed in the Cs-Ba-Ge, Cs-Ba-Sn, and K2CsBi systems. An effect of the crystallinity of Sb on the polymorphic structure of Cs3Sb has been observed. Author
