Abstract:

Certain responses to the stress of speaking with delayed feedback were compared with responses to the lesser stress of speech with direct feedback. Response measures were forearm and forehead tension, GSR, heart rate, respiration rate, and blink rate. Both experimental conditions were found to produce changes in response in the direction of a stress reaction, with delayed feedback producing a significantly larger change in heart rate, blink rate, and GSR, as compared with the direct feedback measures.
