A novel design technique utilizing two nonreciprocal directional YIG filters and two tunnel diode amplifier modules was employed to realize a compact electronically tunable amplifier operable in the X-band region. The dual nonreciprocal filter structures are tuned by a single electromagnet and function as both the tuning and circulator mechanism.
