The development work was concerned with high stability high-megohm resistors and with high temperature normal resistance range resistors. A promising resistor was developed for operation in an ambient temperature of 200 C. The resistor consists of a molded Teflon unit with carbon black or graphite conducting particle filler. Units with a nominal rating of 2 watts were made in resistance values up to about 100,000 ohms. Indications are that the resistors can be operated under 75 load at 200 C without failure. In the high megohm field resistors were produced which substantially meet the requirements of the Signal Corps. The techniques for producing these resistors are described. Electrical characteristics are tabulated and discussed. The results of an extensive investigation of lead glasses are included. Temperature Coefficient of Resistance is -0.5 C, slightly greater than desired, but satisfactory for most applications. Author
