Abstract:
Several techniques that are used to determine the acoustic transmission and absorption losses through walls have been investigated. Experimental techniques and results obtained from measurements are presented. The theoretical aspects of sound generation, attenuation and absorption are discussed, since these concepts are the foundation for work in acoustics and noise reduction investigations. A summary of the work done at NCEL is given, showing techniques used and demonstrating a capability in the field of acoustic theory and measurement. A comprehensive review of the literature on acoustics is presented, along with a brief glossary of terms commonly used in this field. Author
