Abstract:

This research memorandum describes a model for simulating a scheduled VTOL or VSTOL assault. The model consists of two computer programs. Parameters considered are 1 aircraft performance under vrious atmospheric conditions and operational requirements, 2 size and composition of assault force, 3 aircraft dimensions and internal configuration, 4 assignment of personnel to aircraft type, 5 percentage of total lift assigned to each aircraft type, 6 size, composition and deck space utilization of carrier fleet, 7 timing of waves, 8 aircraft loading and unloading times and cruise speeds, and 9 estimates of two classes of attrition. The model was programmed for the CDC 1604 in the FORTRAN-63 language. It is discussed generaly and in detail.
