Abstract:
A study was made to design a system that will reduce the manpower requirements, improve accuracy, and increase responsiveness of transportation capabilities planning. Although movement plans of some form have been prepared within the Army for a number of years, the increasing number of contingency plans and emphasis on rapid deployment of forces in response to enemy aggression have compounded the problems and workload of the military transportation planner. Further compounding the problem of the planner is the need for rapid preparation of new plans, or revision of existing plans, in line with day-to-day fluctuations in world politics. The study groups initial efforts were devoted to an examination of transportation-planning documents that had been prepared in the past, with particular emphasis placed on those portions of each document for which Office Chief of Transportation has primary responsibility.
