Abstract:

The notion advanced is that, based upon a stipulation of using executive control systems needs, it is possible to assign weighting values to members of the set of information units produced by a supporting information system e.g., a surveillance system. These weighting terms can be used in a variety of mathematical models. The total utility value of incoming information should relate directly to the performance adequacy of using executive control systems. This general hypothesis with some implicit corollaries is being tested experimentally, such as a value of x units should bear the same relationship to using systems performance no matter what information mixtures are used to yield that value. The purpose of this report is to describe the nature of the experimental test. Author
