Technical and economic data were developed in three categories heat sinks, miscellaneous cooling-system components, and refrigeration and dehumidification devices. Various combinations were considered as assembled into cooling systems and these systems were then evaluated with respect to their cost effectiveness in removing excess shelter heat. Special attention was given to the conception of applicable new cooling systems. A comparison is also made of the advantages, disadvantages, and estimated costs associated with various conventional and novel systems. Areas of needed research are defined for the development of novel systems.
