Abstract:

An analysis of oceanographic and climatic data for forecasting ice growth during the winter 1963-64 and the climatic outlook for the 1964 arctic shipping season are included. Results of a preliminary survey of sea-ice conditions in the the Labrador Sea, Davis Strait, Denmark Strait, and Baffin Bay are presented. A series of charts shows monthly prognostic sea-ice conditions from mid-May through mid-August 1964. Opening dates and harbor freezing information are included.
