Abstract:

These investigations were carried out to determine if RF energy at various frequencies between 10 and 20 megacycles could produce morphologic changes in mammalian tissue culture cells. Cells were grown in monolayers in test tubes and a specially designed chamber. These were then exposed to RF energy either pulsed or CW for varying periods of time. Power levels were maintained below those which resulted in heat injury to the cells. The cultures were obs rved for any variations from the normal. No differences were detected between the exposed or control cells. If a cell suspension was placed in the chamber with the RF on, they would settle out around the electrodes but would then grow in a normal manner. Author
