Abstract:

This study sought to determine whether temporary threshold shift TTS following exposure to continuous or periodic intermittent noise changes as a function of repetitive exposure five successive sessions. Signaficantly less TTS was observed following exposure to intermittent noise in later sessions for both men and women. No such effect was noted for continuous noise as a function of repetitive exposure. These findings and some earlier ones reported by Coles suggest that temporal condition of the acoustic reflex may be an operation factor. Author
