THERMAL AND ELECTRICAL PROPERTIES OF INCONEL 702 AT HIGH TEMPERATURES

The thermal conductivity, the electrical resistivity, and the thermoelectric power of Inconel 702, a material recently proposed as a thermal conductivity standard, have been measured in the temperature range of 0 to 1100 C. It was found that these properties are complex functions of both the temperature and the heat treatment of the alloy some of the observed variations can be correlated qualitatively with the interactions of the known phase- structures in Inconel 702, and with the formation of the K state. It is the opinion of the authors that the observed dependence of the properties on the thermal history of the specimen renders Inconel 702 unsuitable as a thermal conductivity standard.
