A survey has been made of some of the factors that may affect the amount of silver lost by the electrode during the cycling of a silver-alkaline battery. Factors studied were palladium additions to the silver electrode presence of zinc oxide and other metallic compounds in the electrolyte the presence of surfactants in the electrolyte. The nature of the silver deposit on a cellophane separator has also been investigated. Finally, the presence of colloidal matter in solutions of silver oxide in potassium hydroxide solutions has been observed. Author
