Abstract:

The advantages and disadvantages of using the SLV-1B as a launching vehicle are reviewed. The SLV-1B is a relatively low-cost, high-performance space probe, used principally for conducting relatively light-weight experiments in the region beyond 10,000 nautical miles, or for conducting preliminary test flights for satellite and deep space missions. Included in the report are dis cussions of payload weights, apogees, environment volumes, launch facilities, documentation, schedules, and applicable agencies in the SLV-1B program. The SLV-1B program utilizes an allUSAF planning, procuring, documenting, technical consulting, and launching organization. Author
